What Steve BRACKS Doesn't Say

Steve BRACKS the former Premier of Victoria left politics (along with his deputy John THWAITES) at very short notice, this has never been satisfactorily explained. There were mumbles about family etc, however it is extremely unusual for two ambitious politicians, one at the top and the other almost at the top to quit their positions at almost the same time. There was little curiosity exhibited by the local papers at the time.

Now BRACKS is to release his autobiography. The Herald Sun has an article on it in today's paper and the website  . The headline is how BRACKS considered a royal commission into Victoria Police at the time of the gangland wars but was dissuaded by senior police who claimed that a commission would delay the Purana Taskforce investigating the gangland murders.

"I was told that the brief of evidence being prepared by the Purana taskforce would not be significantly affected by the terrible deaths of the Hodsons," Mr Bracks said.


What isn't made clear is that the Chief Commissioner at the time Christine NIXON was appointed by BRACKS, she appointed to Victoria Police Simon OVERLAND who became the head of the Purana Taskforce. If BRACKS had called a royal commission surely it would have reflected extremely badly on his appointing NIXON as Chief Commissioner (it ended predictably badly anyway) and his government. So what did BRACKS do? He established the soon to be dismantled OPI. The OPI has proved to be an all round disaster. I guess that was to be expected when its reason for existing was to try and fix up the mess that BRACKS and his government had created without actually making BRACKS look bad in the process.

I am concerned that the Australian Public is not aware of the huge price hike in refrigerant gas prices due to the carbon tax.

Apparently the HFC’s that replaced the ozone depleting CFC’s are considered potent green house gasses and as a result of the clean energy bills are to be loaded with an equivalent carbon tax.

Until recently a 12Kg bottle of R134a could be purchased for a little less than $300. After a recent price rise with unknown cause the list price has increased to above $700. After July 1 the list price for the same 12Kg bottle will be $2181.84.

While each domestic refrigerator only holds less than ½ Kg of gas and the price of a domestic fridge will only have to increase by a small amount this is not the complete picture.

A car air conditioner holds about 1Kg and again the purchase price will rise by a small amount, however, the seals in a vehicle aircon are not perfect and it is common for them to require recharging a number of times throughout their life.

But the big crunch will be shopping centre air-conditioning and refrigeration where hundreds of kilos are used and very often due to many reasons gas charges are lost requiring complete replacement of the gas charge. The cost of a gas recharge could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This price rise will inevitably cause a knock on effect for all fresh food as it all refrigerated.

Just another step towards making life more expensive for the average person for no good reason whatsoever. No reason at all!! We will all be paying more for everything because of all these useless taxes. This whole global warming thing is just one giant scam to take money from the poor and send it to the rich.

Like rooftop solar panels. You never see the less well off, pensioners, average working people etc with the panels on the roof. No the panels go to the those who are already well off and the rest of us pay more for our power to subsidise those who are wealthy enough to afford the panels.

It's all a scam. Taking money from the poor and giving it to the wealthy.

How can anyone defend the current government? They are led by a chronic liar, who is utterly incompetent. The rest are no better, almost bad to a man, definately useless, each and every one.

They destroyed a perfectly good border protection system, wasted massive money on pink batts and other crazy schemes. Established a tax on one of the basic building blocks of life, which is supposed to make the world cooler (crazy, impossible) all it will do is impoverish the nation. As well as hundreds of other crazy things.

Speaking of border protection, GILLARD and her crooks are in a coalition with the greens, why don't the greens vote for their Malaysia solution? They are in government together, right? YES. So they blame Abbott for what they created.

Now they have utterly ceded any claim to responsible government. Look at Craig Emerson below. He is acting like an idiot, he looks like and idiot and sounds like an idiot. He is in idiot. They whole stinking lot should resign, refuse to accept any form of pension and work unpaid for charities for the rest of their miserable lives. They may then some time in the future have some claim to self respect later in their lives.

This experiment with empowering morally challenged people is going to cost the nation dearly for many years. Our kids are going to be paying for this.
