The Khan Academy

I found this great site. I love learning about the world and I art. The Khan Academy offers free online tuition on an amazing range of subjects. Here is a sample.

Great Call Steve !
I have been listening to the econotalk ones you steered my way and they were very interesting. As an engineer I always assumed economics was readily amenable to mathematical modelling - say like a cash flow projection on a business plan. I belive all the little units would be about as easy to predict as the weather. The talk about stimulus - The Multiplier Effect made me realise how elusive even straight forward units seem to be.

I have D/L a heap of the Kahn ones - watched the one about S Waves since I am now studying Geology. Good quality stuff. Will give me something entertaining to keep me amused for the rest of the weeks surveying. Am in Cloncurry at the moment. Terrific Spot.

Hi mark

I just found the Khan Academy recently, it will take while for me to get across the range of subjects. As for economics .....well it's far more difficult conceptually than I originally thought, As I said I don't have the maths for it however the concepts are understandable with some thought.

"The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design." Hayek.

I doubt whether any of the current government have any idea of what the end results of their carbon tax etc will be, much less paying jobs that are traditionally womens work far more money than they currently earn. It's going to end in tears.
