I HATE CHRISTMAS

REPEAT I REALLY DO HATE CHRISTMAS !!!!! I dread its coming and when it does get here it's always worse than I imagined. An exhausting day spent eating and drinking with people that you either see all the time or with people you rarely see because you don't want to spend time with them. Everyone gets and gives gifts of items that are not wanted or needed, most of it goes in the rubbish a few days later or to the op shop. One of my better xmas days was spent on a fire duty in a tip, at least I didn't have to pretend that I was happy to be there. My ideal xmas would be a day spent fishing (alone) on the upper west kiewa river, but it'll never happen as long as I have relatives.

I have read some comments that you have written on another site, and quite frankly you either have some really strange ideas, or you have no real concept about Volunteer Emergency Services.

There are enourmous differences between CFA, SES and St Johns, and yes, you do get the good with the bad, however to blanket statement that all of them have no friends and are only about doing things for thier own self gratification is really quite a dream.

In this post I see that you have written about being on fire duty at a tip. So if you are a CFA volunteer, then you should know better.

I have previously written on the volunteer mentallity, it is true that many volunteers. Have a look at these wankers. The humble self effacing people who give their time to the CFA must be so embarrassed when they see morons like this on the front of the paper. http://justasuburbanboy.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html Perhaps you should really examine your motives for volunteering. Would you still do it if they took the lights and sirens off the trucks and took away your pretty uniform? Hmmm I wonder....

Bill, I could care less abuot the light and uniform.

The lights rarely get used, and as for the uniform, you wear bright orange, and try to retain dignity!

I enjoy the further learning, and sense of satisfaction when I have achieved something.. not getting my ego stroked.. if I wanted that, I would have joined the CFA! nes pas?

humm just re read your comment. I was at Mt beauty as was my husband, and we are always aware of 'events that make the news' and how 'interesting' they are. I see your point, but please dont put us all in the same basket.

Some of us are real people who just want to help.

Hmmm Orange overalls? If it's the SES well what can I say? Known as the 'Tea and Coffee Servers' the SES is right down at the bottom of 'Emergency Services' even below St Johns Ambulance. Well known for their ability to stand around in their bright orange and talk to each other the SES is probably the greatest waste of time and money in Australian emergency services. Respected and wanted by nobody except themselves.

As for the couple of CFA's who were at Mt Beauty, if you really wanted to help the community by giving your time and energy well that is up to you. But are you really really sure that is your motive or is it the adrenlin rush and the important feeling you get?

P.S. I would like to know where the CFA has its 80,000 volunteers, when we get help from New Zealanders and Canadians none of whom have any idea of Australian conditions well I reckon that perhaps there are not nearly 80,000 volunteers the real number is probably closer to 10,000 with maybe 2,000 very active people probably half of them are mentally unsuited to firefighting.

Stuff Christmas

Volunteer services...LMAO...the SES and CFA are weekend warriors and would be if they could be's, wanna be's and wankers..they cause more trouble than they are worth and should just pack up their orange coveralls ( orange coveralls are worn by death row inmates you know..now thats insightful!!)and their silly two tone belly holders and leave the rescuing and fire fighting to those who know what they are doing
