Well the time spent fishing was just perfect. A cool, gin clear, stone bottom mountain stream on a warm day. Is there much better? As for the fishing, well I didn't have what they were looking for. I tried every fly I had both wet and dry, the only thing that they took any interest in was a hairwing coachman. I tried several sizes however the fish would go for it and then turn away at the last moment. So it was a pleasurably frustrating day. That night I had a small smokeless fire and cooked my T Bone steak with some vegies and enjoyed a bottle of red wine. I continued this way for another two nights before returning to Melbourne. I always hate returning here after being away.
Well after a week at home I was just getting used to working again when my wife had another breakdown, so it's back into hospital for her. Thank heavens I have top hospital cover, if I didn't by now she would probably be a half mad semi homeless sort of person, it's not a pleasant thought but if you have to rely on the public system that's what happens. Well she will be in for another few weeks so at least it gives me a chance to get some work done around the house.
The only thing that keeps me half sane is that ski season is not too far away, so it will be trips to Falls and day trips to Buller and a heliski trip to NZ later in the season. Have to go and do some plastering now.
